This Is Only A Test...

Tee hee... that made me think of a skit we did in 8th grade, for the talent show. There were five or six of us, and we did a little set of three or four skits. We placed, but sadly I can't remember where. Oh well. It was funny. The good old days.

Anyway. That is not the point. The point is this: I enjoy writing this blog. I like being able to share my thoughts with all the random people who might come by to read them. I like getting to talk about silly stuff (like my celebrity crush, although I don't find that silly at all, ha) and serious stuff (like how I'm afraid I'm going to not get done with this thesis and will have wasted four years and many, many, MANY thousands of dollars). I started it to keep in touch with my friends and family, because I have become a total slacker at writing emails and letters, or even making phone calls. But it's been ever cooler that people I don't know in person stop by, and I get to know even more folks that way. I love that about this.

So this isn't really a test, per se, but I have been curious about who all does pop by and read this. Even if it's only occasionally. So, you there. Yes, you, the one reading this right now... please, please, PLEASE take two seconds to leave me a comment. Just so I know you were here, and I can get a rough idea of who is coming 'round. Because I'm curious like that. Enquiring Minds Want To Know, after all. You don't have to post a comment every single time you come by, I'm not gonna be a comment nazi. (I've been wondering lately, is that now an insensitive phrase? Like being a 'indian giver', or 'what a gyp', or any of those other common phrases that are now seen as slurs? An ideological slur? What do you think? Sorry, I digress.)

I think I can probably speak for most blog posters, and I know I speak for myself, when I say: we love comments. That's a big part of what makes this worth doing, to hear back from people, to get their opinions and thoughts, to turn this into a conversation more than just a soapbox. So please, do comment today and let me know you came by, and think about commenting occasionally when something I say sparks a thought. Any thought. Even if it's just to tell me I'm a dork. I am okay with that.

And thank you to those of you who do comment regularly: Jen, and Maggie, and Barb, and Jennifer, and Mrs.4444, and Masimba sometimes. I really, really, really do appreciate it!

I get you on google reader, so even when I don't post, I do read all your blogs.

Jennie -I want some White Choc PB. Sounds yummy tonight. Its Monday, which also means its Mexican Molnday at your house, and white choc PB or not, that is NOT Mexican.

Well, you know I read your blog, but I'll comment anyway. It's fun to read your posts. You never know what topic you'll be discussing on any given day. It makes me feel like we're still living in the same city, sometimes. Except when I want to come over for a frozen pizza and Monkey Ball. Those days I know you're in a different country. We need to fix that. Last time I came to you. Your turn...

This is how I have any idea of what is going on in your life. I have read all the posts to this point. Take care.

To answer your question, at this point I don't have Monkeyball, but I'll let you know if that changes in the near future. =)

Hi. Was just passing through on my furnitureless journey wanting to say hello there. It's been a while but it's always worthwhile to pass by your blog for a pint of Amie's Life. I find it has the richness of a lager but the gentleness and smoothness of an ale. I envy you some of the drama and yet I know that lesser people such as myself couldn't possible contend with some of the challenges you are about to make fools out of (that thesis never stood a chance). Oh well, it's late and I'm droopy. I guess I have to leave the pub some time. I will be back for more again though, you can count on that.

I enjoy reading your blog, partly because I have been there. I finished my Masters in Special Education in May 2006, and it was the hardest thing I ever did. When finished, I asked my daughter (age 11 at the time) what she learned from the experience, she replied, "Get your Masters BEFORE you have kids!" :) You're smart to bust this out now!

P.S. Check out Google Analytics for stats on your site; it is very user friendly and gives all kinds of stats on your site (who's coming, how many, when, how long they stay, etc.)

Loved MT's comment; going to have to check out his blog, too, now! (See, it does pay to come out of lurkdom!)

Hi Amie,
Happy Birthday! I totally missed it, and I am not going to make any excuses. It is just unacceptable. But, my grandma always said, "better late than never." I hope you had a wonderful day.
How is your writing coming? I continue to pray for you so that you can close things out. Deadlines for me have been acting like moving targets, but I keep shooting :-). I keep believing that it is going to get done. It is less likely that we will come to Europe this summer, because I had to submit by May 15th to even have a chance at that window. So, we look forward to seeing you States' side.
